Conflict avoidance is better conflict resolution!

Building on a basic reflection on the question of what characterizes intercultural communication, we will discuss different techniques for listening, conducting conversations and finding solutions. Intercultural communication skills also include the willingness to adapt and accept that other cultures may communicate and act differently. With this knowledge, many conflicts can be avoided. Nevertheless, conflicts can always arise in interaction and communication between people. Resolving such conflicts is sometimes particularly tricky in an intercultural context. In this workshop, we will show you which strategies can successfully contribute to finding a solution.

The aim of the workshop is to learn how to prevent culturally induced irritations and misunderstandings in communication. Practical case studies will be used to develop sensible conflict resolution and avoidance strategies for working with people from different cultures. In addition, communication and cooperation strategies are tried out in practice and discussed with regard to their applicability in everyday counseling. Own perception processes, evaluation patterns and forms of communication are also considered.
