The Bachelor's degree course in Physiotherapy Science, which is integrated into training, offers both practical physiotherapy content and the scientific/academic orientation of a university degree course. Upon successful completion, graduates receive both the professional qualification of a state-recognized physiotherapist and the academic degree of Bachelor of Science. The primary professional qualification enables graduates to establish themselves on the job market and actively shape care. The Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy Science academic degree also provides access to further academic qualifications.
The Bachelor's degree course is aimed at prospective students who are interested in taking on specialized patient-oriented activities and, in particular, pursuing academic career paths with a focus on clinical research and health services research.
The aim and essence of the course is to qualify physiotherapists who act and reflect on a scientific basis for increasingly complex patient-centered care in the healthcare system. This includes the skills and abilities to make independent therapeutic decisions in the setting of outpatient or inpatient care, both alone and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
The course is scientifically sound and, thanks to its integration into a center of high-performance medicine in Heidelberg (University Hospital and its cooperation partners), allows students to receive state-of-the-art clinical and scientifically sound training. This qualifies graduates for a wide range of careers in preventive and curative healthcare, rehabilitation and palliative medicine.
