Patients who receive infusions over a longer period of time are usually implanted with permanent catheter systems. The venous port system is one of these systems that guarantees patients fewer venipunctures, more mobility and an improved quality of life in the context of chemotherapy, nutritional therapy or pain therapy, for example.
Goal
The correct professional handling of venous port systems in day-to-day outpatient and inpatient care is the responsibility of trained specialist staff and requires appropriate instruction in the use of the port system. In addition to theoretical content, practical exercises are also offered in the training course in order to learn how to use the venous port system correctly. The latest evidence-based findings are also taught. Different procedures and standards for handling the central venous port system are also addressed and discussed.
