Qualification course for carers

Idea

Palliative care is a holistic care concept for patients who are in the advanced stages of an incurable illness. The aim is to improve and maintain the quality of life of these people and their families for as long as possible. According to the WHO, this is achieved by preventing and alleviating suffering through early detection, careful assessment and treatment of pain and other physical, psychosocial and spiritual problems.

For caregivers, this requires not only sound specialist knowledge, but also patient-oriented, creative and symptom-oriented care as well as an individual approach to dying, death and grief.

In this course, nurses are introduced to the concept of palliative care so that they can deal professionally with the complex problems of seriously ill and dying people and their relatives in their nursing practice.

The course meets the legal requirements of outpatient and inpatient hospice work and palliative medicine (§§ 39a I S.4, II S.6, 132d in conjunction with § 37b SGB V) and is certified by the German Society for Palliative Medicine (DGP).
