Teaching and learning philosophy
Teaching and learning is understood as a process of interaction in which participants are empowered to determine their own educational needs. Participants are given the opportunity to consolidate their practical and theoretical experience, knowledge and skills according to their current level of professional training and to link them with newly acquired knowledge.
Aims of the training
On the basis of the further training regulations for the nursing professions, the further training provides for the examination of a wide range of tasks in anesthesia, intensive care and intensive care medicine, as well as the teaching of the knowledge, skills and competencies required to fulfill these tasks.
Contents of the training
The further training in anesthesia and intensive care is structured into seven topic-related modules. The modules are made up of content from nursing science, intensive care, intensive care medicine, related natural sciences and humanities/social sciences.
Organization
The two-year in-service training course comprises 720 hours of theoretical and practical instruction, divided between study days and clinical instruction.
You will need to discuss this further training with your head of nursing in advance.
Areas of application
- Operative intensive care (at least 600 hours)
- Conservative intensive care (at least 600 hours)
- Anesthesia (at least 800 hours)
- Distribution across the areas (350 hours)
Participation requirements
- the professional license according to § 1 of the Nursing Professions Act
- professional experience in healthcare and nursing or healthcare and pediatric nursing after completion of training, which should amount to one year, six months of which should be in the specialist area of the respective further training. In the case of combined further training in intensive care and anesthesia, professional experience in either intensive care or anesthesia is sufficient
