About the school

The School for Anesthesia Technical Assistants (ATA School) was founded in 2019. It is located in the Heinsteinwerk in the Wieblingen district of Heidelberg. Theoretical training takes place at the Academy for Health Professions, which is also responsible for applications as well as for the organization and implementation of training in accordance with legal requirements.

Legal framework conditions

Training is carried out in accordance with the Anesthesia Technician and Surgical Technician Assistant Act(ATA-OTA-G)of 14.12.2019 and the training and examination regulations(ATA-OTA-APrV)of 04.11.2020. It lasts three years and concludes with a written, a practical and an oral examination. To ensure the quality of theoretical and practical training, Heidelberg University Hospital has concluded the "Regulatory Agreement on Training Quality in ATA Training".

School team

The school team includes five full-time teaching staff, a doctor and part-time lecturers. The principal is Andreas Motzkus, a qualified nursing educator (FH).
