Heidelberg University Hospital
Heidelberg University Hospital is one of the most important medical centers in Germany and one of the top employers in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region due to the diversity of its numerous training programs. In more than 50 specialist clinical departments with almost 2,000 beds, around 80,000 patients receive inpatient and day-care treatment every year and more than 1,000,000 patients receive outpatient treatment. Together with the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) and German Cancer Aid, Heidelberg University Hospital has established the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) Heidelberg, the leading oncological center of excellence in Germany. Together with the DKFZ and Heidelberg University, Heidelberg University Hospital also runs the Hopp Children's Tumor Center (KiTZ), a therapy and research center for oncological and hematological diseases in children and adolescents that is unique in Germany.

Salem Hospital is a hospital with 238 beds and around 500 employees who offer patients the highest medical and nursing standards. It is an academic teaching hospital of Heidelberg University and has a long-standing, close cooperation with Heidelberg University Hospital. The Salem Hospital's vocational school for nursing is affiliated to the Academy for Health Professions.
The roots of the hospital lie in the Heidelberg Deaconess Hospital, which was founded by Pastor Prof. Wilhelm Frommel in 1889. The name of the hospital goes back to a biblical place called "Salem". It is linguistically related to the Hebrew and Arabic word for "peace, salvation" (shalom or salam).
Care for the elderly of the Evangelische Stadtmission Heidelberg gGmbH
For over 150 years, the elderly care of the Evangelische. Stadtmission Heidelberg has been active as a diaconal institution in Heidelberg and the surrounding area for people who need help. These include people who are ill, suffering from the burdens of old age, have no home, are at risk of addiction or suffering from addiction or need support in other ways.
There are now almost 1500 full-time employees and around 150 volunteers working in around 20 facilities, providing professional help and human care.
The Evangelische Stadtmission's care for the elderly is responsible for nursing homes and a vocational school for care with a focus on training in inpatient long-term care/care for the elderly, which is part of the Academy for Health Professions.
