The Academy for Health Professions (AfG) is the training and further education institution of Heidelberg University Hospital (UKHD) and the Evangelical City Mission Heidelberg. It is one of the largest training institutions for healthcare professions in Germany. As an educational institution with an excellent reputation, the Academy for Healthcare Professions has been pursuing the mission of promoting and developing vocational training for more than 15 years.
Getting ahead through education
Education
Heidelberg University Hospital or the Evangelische Stadtmission Heidelberg conclude the training contracts and make their clinics, nursing homes and facilities available for practical training. The theoretical training takes place at the Academy for Health Professions. The Academy is responsible for the organization and implementation of the training courses.
Further training
"Learning is like rowing against the current. If you stop, you drift backwards". Lifelong learning is a guarantee for preventing drifting backwards and supporting progress. We offer training courses on leadership and management, law, communication and language, teaching and instruction and specialist topics.
Further training
Heidelberg University Hospital is responsible for three state-recognized further training courses for the professions of healthcare and nursing, healthcare and paediatric nursing and geriatric nursing.
Additional qualification
Additional qualifications are skills and knowledge that go beyond your specialist skills and ideally complement them.
Study
Are you interested in studying healthcare? We offer three dual study programs: "Interprofessional Healthcare (B.Sc.)" at the Medical Faculty of Heidelberg University, "Midwifery Science (B.Sc.)" at HWG Ludwigshafen with practical placements at Heidelberg University Hospital and "Nursing (B.Sc.)" at HWG Ludwigshafen with practical placements at Heidelberg University Hospital.
Welcome to HIPSTA!
HIPSTA started in 2017 as the first interprofessional training ward (IPSTA) in Germany on Ward 4, a visceral surgery ward in the Department of Surgery. The new HIPSTAs look after up to 4 patients during their 4-week assignment. They carry out ward rounds independently and provide care autonomously, learning with and from each other.

The hospital and the Medical Faculty of Heidelberg University (MFHD) are the largest employer and training center in the city of Heidelberg. Around 14,000 employees in over 100 professions contribute with their great commitment to ensuring that this ultra-modern campus is in constant motion and development.
Protestant City Mission
In around 20 facilities ranging from outpatient services to homes with a total of over 1,000 beds, around 1,400 employees try to help people who are ill or need support in other ways.
The Evang. Stadtmission Heidelberg is involved in the Heidelberg Academy for Health Professions with the vocational school for nursing care for the elderly and the vocational school for nursing care at the Salem School of Nursing.

At the vocational school for nursing, 565 trainees are trained in nursing professions for the University Hospital Heidelberg, the Salem Hospital Heidelberg, the Protestant City Mission Heidelberg and other institutions. We are looking for nursing educators BA./M.A. (f/m/d) with immediate effect.
Lecturer on a fee basis for the self and social skills module in the MT training courses
The MTL and MTR School is looking for a lecturer for training-related modules with a focus on psychosocial skills. The teaching activity comprises 3 to 5 hours per week in the winter semester and 6 to 7.5 hours per week in the summer semester.
