Aims of the training
The training promotes the nursing, social and communication skills of the participants and imparts comprehensive knowledge in the holistic, individual, patient-oriented care and support of seriously ill children in need of intensive care and their relatives.
Participation requirements
- the professional license according to § 1 of the Nursing Professions Act and
- a professional activity in healthcare and pediatric nursing after completion of the training, which should last one year, six months of which should be in the field of pediatric intensive care.
Organization
The two-year in-service training, based on the "Ordinance of the Ministry of Social Affairs on further training for nursing professions in Baden-Württemberg (WVO-Pflegeberufe) of October 22, 2022", is divided into a theoretical part (720 hours of instruction) and a practical part (practical assignments).
It is necessary for you to discuss this further training with your nursing service management in advance.

Practical areas of application
Practical training takes place in the pediatric and neonatal intensive care units as well as the anesthesia departments of Heidelberg University Hospital and the cooperation clinics of Mannheim University Hospital and the SLK Clinics in Heilbronn.
